Flower and balloon rules

Because of the risk posed by coronavirus (COVID-19) to our patients, staff and our community, we are screening visitors and patients for signs of illness as they arrive at Nebraska Medical Center and Bellevue Medical Center.

One way we can reduce the number of people in our hospitals is to no longer allow floral or balloon deliveries.

If you have a friend or a loved one who is a patient at Nebraska Medical Center or Bellevue Medical Center, you can send them a free e-card with your own message instead

We thank you for understanding!

Guidelines for Flowers and Balloons

  • Live or dried flowers are not allowed in some critical care areas of the hospital.
  • The nursing staff, as well as the gift shop staff can help you make appropriate selections.
  • Mylar balloons (the shiny foil-color) are acceptable.
  • Latex balloons are prohibited because of the potential hazards they pose for our patients, care providers and guests.
