Choose Nebraska Medicine for Heart Care Because:
Only Structural Heart Program in the Region
The only program of its type in the Omaha area, Nebraska Medicine’s structural heart program specializes in offering some of the most advanced and innovative percutaneous procedures to repair anatomic abnormalities of the heart, heart septum and heart valves. Purcutaneous means our surgeons perform the procedures minimally invasively via needle-puncture of the skin, rather than by using an open heart approach.
Leaders in Treating Heart Failure
Nebraska Medicine is the region’s leader in advanced heart failure. Our heart failure program is the largest and only Joint Commission-certified advanced heart failure program in the state. Our experienced staff, which includes two certified heart failure/heart transplantation cardiologists, provides comprehensive heart disease management, genetic testing and counseling and the most advanced heart disease treatments including medical therapies, ventricular assist devices, artificial hearts and cardiac transplantation.
Most Experienced Heart Transplant Program in Nebraska
The only medical center in the region with both Medicare designated heart transplantation and an integrated Joint Commission certified heart failure program, our heart transplant program has performed more than 200 heart transplants. We also specialize in combined and multi-organ transplantation.
Accredited Chest Pain Center

This accreditation means that the Chest Pain Center has demonstrated its expertise and commitment to quality patient care by meeting or exceeding a wide set of stringent criteria and completing on-site evaluations by a review team from the Society of Chest Pain Centers.
Innovative Interventional Cardiology
True experts in their field, our interventional cardiologists perform some of the most innovative interventional cardiac procedures to successfully treat a variety of cardiac conditions, eliminating the need for more invasive treatment options. Not only do our specialists perform some of the highest volumes of interventional cardiology procedures in the area, their experience and expertise allows them to perform very complex and high risk cardiac procedures.
Advanced Heart Monitoring through Cardiac Anesthesia
Our cardiac anesthesiologists have specialized training and skills that allow surgeons to perform surgery on prior cardiac surgery patients for non-cardiac related surgeries. Using advanced cardiac monitoring tools, they can monitor the function of the heart during surgery to ensure the surgery is performed safely.
