The Nebraska Medical Center Emergency Department is located on level one of the Hixson-Lied Center.
Address: 4350 Dewey Ave., Omaha, NE 68105
Directions: Turn south onto 44th St. from Farnam Street. The main entrance is on your left.
Parking: Use the lower-level garage just south of the main entrance. ADA-accessible spaces and valet service are available.
Security clearance is required to enter the Emergency Department.
- Chest pain or irregular heartbeat.
- Difficulty breathing or shortness of breath.
- Severe abdominal or pelvic pain.
- Deep cuts or wounds that won’t stop bleeding.
- Suspected major bone fracture.
- Dehydration.
- Loss of consciousness.
- Difficulty speaking, sudden dizziness or numbness or weakness in the face, arm or leg.

Whether you're driving yourself, being dropped off or arriving after hours, here's what you need to know.
Free valet service is available for patients on the Nebraska Medical Center campus at these main entrances:
Durham Outpatient Center/University Tower: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Clarkson Tower: Monday through Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center: Monday through Friday, 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Visitors are encouraged to self-park when possible to allow easier access for patients who need assistance. Parking on campus is organized into color-coded zones for easy navigation.

Nebraska Medicine and UNMC offer a shuttle service for employees, students and patients.

The hospital has limited access from 8:30 p.m. to 4:30 a.m. for patient and visitor safety. If you are visiting after hours, you'll need to check-in with security at main entrances.
Where to enter after 8:30 p.m.:
Clarkson Tower: Enter through the main doors near 42nd Street and Dewey Avenue.
University Tower: Enter through the green parking garage, take the elevators to level one (Durham Outpatient Center atrium).
Fred & Pamela Buffett Cancer Center: Enter through the main entrance.

Parking on campus
The parking garages and lots around campus are color-coded and labeled to help you find your way. Locate your building in the list below to see which parking zone is closest and how to get there.
Note: Lauritzen Outpatient Center, Fritch Surgery Center and Truhlsen Eye Institute have parking available directly in front of the building.
Green Parking
Park in the Green garage, then take the elevator to level one (main lobby).
Valet parking is also available for patients at the main entrance.
Park in the Green garage, then take the elevator to level one (main lobby of Durham Outpatient Center). The Lied Transplant Center is connected to the Durham Outpatient Center and will be toward your right.
Follow campus signs or ask for directions at the nearest information desk.

After 6 p.m. and on weekends: Park in the Green garage, then take the elevator to level one (main lobby of Durham Outpatient Center).

The Specialty Services Pavilion is located next to the Durham Outpatient Center, near 44th and Emile streets.
Park in the Green garage, then take the elevator to level one (main lobby of Durham Outpatient Center). Exit the Durham Outpatient Center through the main doors and follow the sidewalk to the Specialty Services Pavilion.
Due to parking lot construction, finding a spot may take longer. Valet parking is available at Clarkson Tower. Please plan to arrive early for your appointment.
Orange Parking
Park in the Orange lot and walk toward Clarkson Tower. The main entrance is located at 42nd Street and Dewey Avenue.
Valet parking is also available Monday through Friday, from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Inside, turn left at St. Luke’s Chapel and follow the carpeted hallway.
This leads to CT/MRI and the NICU (level four) or take the concourse to University Tower.
Blue Parking
The Clarkson Doctors Building North is located at 4242 Farnam St., on the north side of Farnam Street. Park in the Blue garage.
Purple Parking
The Clarkson Doctors Building South is located at 4239 Farnam St., on the south side of Farnam Street. Park in the Purple lot.
Yellow Parking
The Yellow garage provides additional parking for the public. It requires a short walk to most entrances. If you have mobility needs, we recommend using valet services.
