Ethics Support

Health care decisions can be hard. Our ethics team can help you, your loved ones and your care team explore what matters most so decisions can be made with clarity and respect.

Ethics consultation services

Everyone, whether a patient, family member or provider, has the right to request an ethics consultation. Our ethics team provides a safe, respectful and neutral space to work through care decisions. They’ll offer guidance and support so decisions can be made with understanding and respect.

  • Starting, continuing or stopping treatment: Guidance for decisions about limiting or continuing treatments, including at or near the end of life.
  • Who makes decisions: Help when a patient’s wishes are unknown, unclear or when family members or providers disagree.
  • Values, beliefs and consent: Help when cultural, religious or personal beliefs differ, or when there are questions about consent or advance directives.
  • Other concerns: Support for questions about the appropriateness of certain treatments, use of limited resources or privacy and confidentiality.
