Nebraska Medicine is proud to be named for the fourth straight year, one of the “100 Great Hospitals in America,” a compilation of some of the most prominent, forward-thinking and focused health care facilities in the nation published each year by Becker’s Hospital Review.

The hospitals included on the 2017 list are home to many medical and scientific breakthroughs and are industry leaders in innovation, quality patient care and clinical research. They also have received recognition across various publications and accrediting organizations.

“It’s an absolute honor to once again be included on this list,” says Dan DeBehnke, MD, MBA, Nebraska Medicine CEO. “The expertise, cutting-edge research and extraordinary care we provide to patients allows us to do things no one else in this region can.”

To develop the list, Becker's Hospital Review's editorial team selected hospitals based on analysis of several ranking and award agencies, including U.S. News and World Report, CMS star ratings, Leapfrog grades, Truven Health Analytics top hospitals, Most Wired hospitals and Magnet accreditation. The final result is a group of 100 hospitals that are leaders in their region, their state and the nation in terms of high-quality patient care.

“Our commitment to excellence and healing is transformational,” adds Dr. DeBehnke. “We are very excited for the future of Nebraska Medicine. This June, we’re opening a world-class cancer center and we have new primary care clinics on the horizon. We have a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to.”

Nebraska Medicine is nationally recognized in cardiology, neurology and oncology. It has an international reputation for providing bone marrow and stem cell transplantation services. It’s home to one of the most reputable and well-known solid organ transplant programs in the country, performing thousands of heart, liver, kidney, pancreas, intestinal and lung transplants. Nebraska Medicine is also a comprehensive Level 1 trauma center, providing 24/7 care to adult and pediatric patients. U.S. News and World Report has ranked Nebraska Medicine the #1 hospital in Nebraska for five years in a row. Nebraska Medicine also received Vizient’s 2016 Bernard A. Birnbaum, MD, Quality Leadership Award, placing it nationally among the top 10 academic medical centers for providing a high level of quality patient care and safety.
