We hope you and your families are doing well during these unprecedented times. Your safety and the safety of our residents, staff and patients are the utmost importance to us. We have included important information for all prospective PGY1 and PGY2 residency candidates.

Getting to know Nebraska Medicine

To get to know more about Nebraska Medicine, in partnership with the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) we have included a video from the Graduate Medical Education office that will give you a nice overview of our campus, hospital and Omaha from the medical house officer and student perspective.

The 2021 Nebraska Medicine PGY1 residency “Getting to Know Us” informational sessions (November)

We want to provide a more personalized venue for you to learn more about us; therefore, we are hosting our own informational sessions whereby we would enjoy meeting you

  • Each session will be 30 minutes in length and limited to 12 participants
  • To participate, please sign up for one session by clicking on the link below and selecting the date/time that works best for you.
    • Additional sessions may be added if necessary
  • Registration is FREE!

The 2021 Nebraska Medicine PGY1 residency “Getting to Know Us” showcase session (December)

  • Even if you have attended informational sessions in November or met Dr. Fuller and residents on the recruiting trail, we want to provide an additional personalized venue for you to have all of your questions answered.
  • There will be ten sessions (each 20 minutes in length) to choose from.
  • Each session is limited to 10 participants.
  • To participate, please sign up for one session by clicking on the link below and selecting the date/time that works best for you.
    • Additional sessions may be added if needed.
  • If one session is full, please register for another session that fits your schedule.
  • Registration is FREE! 
  • A Zoom invitation will be sent to your email about two weeks prior to the virtual session.

PGY2 “Getting to Know Us” informational sessions

If you are interested in learning more about our PGY2 programs, please contact the PGY2 residency program director in your interest area via email to request an individual meeting. 

PGY1 and PGY2 interview updates

  • Interviews will be conducted virtually in January and February, 2022. 

PGY1 and PGY2 application updates

  • Applicants are required to apply through PhORCAS by the deadline in PhORCAS for each residency program
  • After receipt of all application materials, applications will be reviewed and a select number of candidates will be contacted in early January to schedule interviews

Required application materials

  1. Letter of intent
    • Maximum 1.5 pages, 12 point font, 0.8 inch margins
    • Addressing the following three questions:
      • Why are you choosing to complete a pharmacy residency and how do you feel this experience will influence your career?
      • Why would you like to pursue a residency at Nebraska Medicine?
      • Describe one situation in which you influenced a patient’s medication therapy
  2. Curriculum vitae
  3. PhORCAS standardized references
    • Three standard references are required through PhORCAS
    • Two of the references must be from clinical preceptors who can attest to your abilities as a pharmacy professional, commenting on your character, personality, dependability, professionalism and clinical abilities

Resident salaries 2022-2023

  • PGY1 salary: $48,900
  • PGY2 salary: $50,367

Resident benefits

  • Residents will receive one complimentary lab coat
  • Residents will receive 12 days of paid time off (PTO) to use for vacation or ill time during the 12-month program

Professional meetings

  • Financial support (subject to change) will be provided to each resident to attend program required professional meetings and activities
  • Funding for additional meetings will be provided at the discretion of the Director of Pharmaceutical and Nutrition Care
