Breastfeeding and Lactation Counseling at the Olson Center for Women's Health

The Nebraska Medicine lactation team is available by appointment at the Olson Center for Women's Health. In this one on one setting, a lactation consultant can assist you with a full range of scenarios including, but not limited to:

  • Back-to-work issues
  • Sore nipples/breasts
  • Oversupply issues
  • Low milk supply
  • Latch-on difficulty/breast refusal
  • Infant oral assessment
  • Feeding pattern assessment
  • Slow weight gain
  • Premature infants
  • Twins/other multiples
  • Moms with a history of breast surgery
  • Pumping questions
  • Breastfeeding/Lactation Support Group

Breastfeeding/Lactation Support and Education

Nebraska Medicine lactation offers Latch and Learn, a free drop-in breastfeeding group on Thursdays at 3 pm at the Olson Center Classroom. The group is open to any mom in the community. For more information, please call 402.552.3487.

Lactation consultants are also available at Nebraska Medicine – Bellevue. They provide inpatient and outpatient services. The Bellevue lactation consultants also has a free drop-in breastfeeding support group every Thursday from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. 

We now offer a special, free drop-in breastfeeding advice service at Nebraska Medicine - Chalco from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. every Wednesday. This is for any mom who just wants to ask a quick breastfeeding question, have your baby weighed, or get some advice on latching. You don't need to be a Nebraska Medicine patient or make an appointment. No insurance will be billed as the service is free. Breast Pumps

Our Lactation Team is able to work with a variety of insurance plans to cover a Medela Pump in Style Advance Pump for women 36+ weeks in pregnancy or after birth and providing pump teaching. During your stay we offer to dispense pumps to patients room with one-on-one teaching to get you started. For questions, please call 402.552.3487.
