Referring patients to addiction services

Addiction Services is a specialty continuum of care providing integrated treatment for co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders. We offer long-term outpatient services and an intensive outpatient program (IOP).

Clinical services offered:

  • Medication-assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder and alcohol use disorder
  • Individual psychotherapy
  • Psychopharmacology services
  • Group therapy

Appropriate referrals:

  • Patients with possible substance use disorder (SUD) with or without co-occurring psychiatric symptoms
  • Priority patients seeking help for opioid and alcohol use disorders
  • Chemical dependency (CD) evaluation is not necessary for a referral

How to make a referral:

  • Discuss treatment goals with your patient to identify if Addiction Services is an appropriate fit
  • Nebraska Medicine providers can place an electronic order for “Ambulatory Referral to Addiction Services” in One Chart
  • External providers can call us at 402.552.6007 to make the referral, or instruct the patient to self-refer by calling the same number
