How the Do Not Announce designation works
Patients can be designated Do Not Announce, or (DNA), to maintain an extra level of privacy.
Due to the nature of a patient's injuries, circumstances or personal requests, they may be designated as DNA.
If a Patient is Designated DNA
- No information will be given out regarding this patient.
- Anyone inquiring about a patient who has been designated DNA, either in person or on the phone, will be told there is “no information available for that patient.”
Visitors of Patients Designated DNA
- Must wear special wrist bands at all times in order to visit.
- Visitors may not transfer or tamper with their special wrist bands.
- Visitation guidelines and number of wristbands given to each family are determined by the patient’s condition, location and unique safety concerns.
- Between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., all visitors to the campus are required to check-in with security.
- Only visitors wearing the designated wristbands will be allowed into the patient care areas.
Please discuss any questions or concerns regarding visitation with the nurses or a member of our Patient Relations team. Nebraska Medicine thanks you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and healing environment.
