Do Not Announce Designation

How the Do Not Announce designation works

Patients can be designated Do Not Announce, or (DNA), to maintain an extra level of privacy.

Due to the nature of a patient's injuries, circumstances or personal requests, they may be designated as DNA.

If a Patient is Designated DNA

  • No information will be given out regarding this patient.
  • Anyone inquiring about a patient who has been designated DNA, either in person or on the phone, will be told there is “no information available for that patient.”

Visitors of Patients Designated DNA

  • Must wear special wrist bands at all times in order to visit.
  • Visitors may not transfer or tamper with their special wrist bands.
  • Visitation guidelines and number of wristbands given to each family are determined by the patient’s condition, location and unique safety concerns.
  • Between the hours of 8:30 p.m. and 8:30 a.m., all visitors to the campus are required to check-in with security.
  • Only visitors wearing the designated wristbands will be allowed into the patient care areas.

Please discuss any questions or concerns regarding visitation with the nurses or a member of our Patient Relations team. Nebraska Medicine thanks you for your cooperation in maintaining a safe and healing environment.
