Four mobile app updates that make your life easier

1. Schedule quickly: Keep forgetting that overdue checkup? With one tap from a doctor’s profile, you can schedule instantly – whether you’re an existing patient or new to Nebraska Medicine.
2. Find care without the hassle: It’s 7 p.m. and your child has a fever. Instead of searching for phone numbers, you can instantly look up immediate care clinic hours and locations, or try an Immediate Care Video Visit through the app.
3. Explore your options: Browse provider bios and see which locations are closest to you in the mobile app – all without logging in.
4. Health care info at your fingertips: View your medical records, manage prescriptions and explore helpful health information, factchecked by Nebraska Medicine experts.

Making care more accessible 

Whether patients use a mobile app or computer, Nebraska Medicine provides a consistent, high-quality experience designed around you. 

“We want to unify your experience,” says Faseeh Ur Rehman, user experience designer. “It doesn’t matter what screen size you have or where you are – we want to make care accessible and more equitable.” 

Making care more accessible also means eliminating unnecessary steps. Before, users needed to create an account to search for doctors or locations in the app. Now, new patients can schedule certain appointments through the app or NebraskaMed.com without creating an account first.

Smart scheduling that works for you 

“From haircuts to airline flights, everything can be scheduled through online platforms,” says Ann Blanchard, MBA, BSN, RN, director of Access Innovations, Capacity Management and Referral CORE. “Our patients are looking for convenient health care scheduling, so we are opening our digital front doors and improving digital access.” 

New patients who have never been seen before can schedule from the Nebraska Medicine app or on NebraskaMed.com. 

Existing patients can log in to the Nebraska Medicine app or One Chart | Patient to schedule. Both paths let you compare your doctor’s available times with your own schedule to select a date and time that works best for you. 

Your doctor can send available appointment times directly to your app, making it easy to schedule your care online. And wherever possible, we have added automated waitlists. So sometimes, if another patient cancels their appointment, you may be automatically offered an earlier time. 

Keeping care accessible for everyone 

Don’t worry, the new digital tools don’t leave anyone behind. You can still call the contact center to confirm, reschedule or schedule an appointment. 

“We still ask the patient for their communication preference,” Blanchard says. “If it’s a phone call, their appointment reminder will go out via phone call. If it’s a text message, they get it via text message.”
