U.S. News ranks Nebraska Medical Center No. 1 in Nebraska for 14th straight year
Nebraska Medical Center is the No. 1-rated hospital in the Omaha metro area and the state of Nebraska. It’s an elite distinction that only 13% of evaluated hospitals receive — a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospitals designation.
This year, more than 4,400 hospitals were evaluated nationwide. Rankings are based on factors like risk-adjusted mortality rates, preventable complications and level of nursing care.
In addition, our gastroenterology and GI surgery program achieved a national ranking, placing it in the top 50 nationally.

- Back surgery
- Colon cancer surgery
- Diabetes
- Heart arrhythmia
- Kidney failure
- Leukemia, lymphoma and myeloma
- Pneumonia
- Prostate cancer surgery
- Stroke

The Best Hospitals Specialty rankings methodology and Procedures & Conditions ratings methodology measure patient outcomes using data from over 800 million records of patient care.
