With all the fad diets out there, it is easy to get caught up in all the hype. You may see results quickly; however those pounds typically seem to come back just as quickly as they were lost. Most diets fail, some are unsafe and none are the “ideal” diet. Everyone is different in a variety of ways.

They carry weight differently; they have illnesses another may not have; they have individual responses to dietary changes.

The first thing I tell my patients when they come in for a consultation for weight loss is there is no magic pill.

Patients who lose a large amount of weight in a short time make positive efforts toward a healthier lifestyle. The first step is a meeting with a dietitian to develop a proper meal plan for you.

Dietitians have a wealth of knowledge on using proper nutrition to achieve weight loss goals. If you are struggling with increased appetite or cravings, or your weight loss has stalled, a medication may be a great option for you.

When you come see me, we will discuss different medication options tailored to you and your health history. I will monitor any changes and make adjustments as needed, while making sure you are on the right track with healthy lifestyle changes. We will discuss your weight loss goals and how best to achieve them.

Always remember, there is no magic bullet. The foundation of weight loss is dedication and hard work with proper diet and exercise.
