Woman receiving laser treatment on face

Ever look in the mirror and wish you could turn back the clock? Dreams MedSpa offers a variety of treatments to enhance your appearance and help you reach your skincare goals.

Laser skin resurfacing uses light energy to improve skin tone and texture while reducing wrinkles, scars, uneven pigmentation, and sun damage.

Understanding skin resurfacing laser types

Clinicians use three main laser types, individually or in combination, to achieve optimal results.

  • Non-ablative: Penetrates into the dermal layer to stimulate collagen and elastin without damaging the epidermis
  • Fractional ablative: Resurfaces 10 to 40 % percent of the epidermis (outer skin layer)
  • Fully ablative: Performed by a plastic surgeon, this laser resurfaces the entire epidermis, requiring several weeks of downtime

A suite of skin resurfacing lasers, customized to meet individual needs

Dreams MedSpa offers several options depending on your skincare goals. All lasers are highly customizable, in terms of depth and aggressiveness, to target your specific concerns.

“Which type of treatment you choose highly depends upon your skin’s condition, the results you’re looking for, and how much downtime you can manage,” says Acacia Colson, MSN, APRN, FNP-C. “We can also make adjustments to each treatment to deliver a personalized solution to meet your goals.”

1. MOXI®: Lighten, brighten, and refresh

MOXI® uses a 1,927-nanometer wavelength laser, offering a unique, year-round safe option (unlike other laser treatments). Safe for all skin tones, this gentle, non-ablative laser treatment targets early signs of aging with virtually no downtime .

This treatment is ideal for those just starting their skincare journey and looking for a light refinement with no downtime. MOXI® helps improve pigmentation, skin tone, texture, pore size, and melasma.

What to expect afterwards:

  • Mild swelling for one to two days
  • A sandpaper-like skin texture for five to seven days
  • Makeup and sunscreen can be applied immediately
  • Results last up to a year, with recommended maintenance every three to four months

2. Sciton HALO®: A laser hybrid for more comprehensive anti-aging

The Sciton HALO offers the best of both worlds. It combines ablative and non-ablative wavelengths for a synergistic effect that reduces the appearance of sunspots, fine lines, wrinkles, dullness, discoloration, pore appearance, and acne scars. Treatment can be targeted to a single area, the whole face, or other parts of the body.

The 2,940-nanometer wavelength laser resurfaces about 20% to 30% of the epidermis, improving pigmentation and texture. The 1,470-nanometer laser stimulates deep collagen to improve lines, wrinkles, and firmness.

What to expect afterwards:

  • About one week of downtime
  • Redness and swelling peak around day three
  • No makeup for the first week
  • Gentle skincare (cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen) after 48 hours
  • Avoid the sun for three to four weeks before and after treatment
  • An initial glow is visible at one week, with full collagen-building results appearing in two to three months
  • One to two treatments recommended in the first year to reset the skin’s baseline, then annually for maintenance

3. HALO® TRIBRID™: A three-laser combination for people who want it all

The HALO TRIBRID adds the 1,927-nanometer wavelength laser to the traditional two HALO lasers for superior skin improvement.

The 1,470-nanometer wavelength laser stimulates collagen production. The 2,940-nanometer wavelength resurfaces the epidermis. The 1,927-nanometer wavelength evens skin tone, refines pores, and adds a beautiful glow.

What to expect afterwards:

  • About one week of downtime
  • Peak swelling and redness around day three
  • Avoid sun exposure for three to four weeks before and after treatment
  • Results deliver excellent overall skin clarity, texture, and firmness

4. Sciton Contour TRL: For dramatic, long-lasting results

A fully ablative laser that offers independent control over ablation depth and coagulation for deeper resurfacing. It removes 100% of the epidermis to smooth deeper lines, address significant sun damage, and improve skin’s texture. Plastic surgeons perform this resurfacing treatment. This treatment is scheduled as an outpatient procedure and uses nerve blocks along with topical numbing to provide pain relief.

What to expect afterwards:

  • You will need a driver to take you home
  • Around three to four weeks of downtime
  • The area must be kept moist as it heals, with swelling peaking around day three
  • Avoid sun exposure for three to four weeks before and after treatment
  • Full results appear within a few months, with long-term improvements to the skin
