What you need to know about the RN Satisfaction Survey
The RN Satisfaction Survey opens Sunday, Oct. 1, at 23:01 and closes at 22:59 on Sunday, Oct. 22.
Eligibility
A Nebraska Medicine nurse must be employed in their current clinic/unit/setting since July 1, and spend at least 50% of their hours in direct patient care to participate in the survey. For complete details, see the table below.
Eligible nurses will receive a survey invitation from Chief Nursing Officer Sue Nuss, PhD. Do not delete this email! It contains a code that you must enter to access the survey. This code only identifies the location in which you work. It does not identify who you are. The survey is anonymous.
The survey can be found here or by using the QR code below. Once you are on the site, enter the code (in your email from Dr. Nuss) to begin. The survey takes about 20 minutes and must be completed in one sitting. Because the survey is anonymous, there is no way to save your responses and return later.

Why should I participate?
Stating the obvious, being a nurse is not easy. There are highs and lows, and we want to hear about them. We realize it’s not always easy to give direct feedback. The RN Satisfaction Survey provides an opportunity to rate your experience anonymously.
In contrast to the Colleague Pulse Check, the RN Satisfaction Survey helps us gain a better understanding of teamwork, available resources, and support of your professional development. We are also able to compare results to other hospitals throughout the country. What’s going well? What needs to change? It’s your feedback that guides where we focus our improvement efforts.
Here are a few examples of improvements in response to previous surveys
- Creation of guidelines to reduce lateral transfers that occur during shift change
- Reevaluating RN-RN bedside report process
- Reduction in documentation requirements
- Care plan documentation – making interventions visible in flowsheet rows
- Reducing first case/appointment delays
- Optimizing call center message content and routing for ambulatory clinics
- Professional Governance revisions
Survey completion tips
- Not all questions will be applicable to your role/job setting/practice. In those cases, do not answer the question. Simply skip it or indicate it is not applicable (if provided as a response option).
- It’s common for people to get confused by terms used in the survey. Here are definitions for frequently used terms, in the context of the survey:
- Staff nurse – consider this a direct care provider. This includes APRNs
- Unit – consider this the team you work with, regardless of whether it is an inpatient, outpatient or procedural setting
- Shift – consider this your last day at work
- Supervisory staff or supervisors – consider this to be your manager, supervisor, and/or lead
- Nursing administrators – consider this your nursing director, nursing executive director or chief nursing officer
- Nurse manager – consider this your immediate manager
- Administration – consider this to be the highest level of hospital administration (e.g. chief officers)
