New Medicaid work requirements

Starting May 1, 2026, Nebraska Medicaid will have work requirements for some adults ages 19 to 64.

It is important that the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) can reach you if it needs more information to confirm your Medicaid eligibility.

Update your contact information with DHHS

To make sure DHHS can reach you, update your contact information using one of the options below:
•    Visit iserve.nebraska.gov and select “Log in.”
•    Email DHHSANDICenter@nebraska.gov.
•    Call 855.632.7633 (TDD 402.471.7256).
•    Fax 402.742.2351.

Watch for communication from DHHS

DHHS may send you notices about your Medicaid eligibility or whether you need to report work activities. Be sure to open and respond to any letters, emails or messages you receive from DHHS.

Work Requirements

If you are required to participate, Medicaid members must complete the work requirements of at least 80 hours of any combination of these activities in a month:

  • Work.
  • School (going to an accredited school at least half-time, based on your school's definition of half-time enrollment).
  • An apprenticeship.
  • Volunteer activities.

Medicaid work requirement forms are provided by the Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS).

To make sure you are using the newest version, please get forms directly from the DHHS website instead of downloading them from other websites.
