An Explanation of Benefits (EOB) is not a bill. It is a summary your insurance company sends after a medical claim has been processed. The EOB shows what your provider charged, how much your insurance covered and what portion, if any, you may owe.
A bill (or patient liability statement) comes directly from Nebraska Medicine after your insurance company has paid. The bill shows the remaining balance you owe, which should match the amount listed on your EOB. Unlike the EOB, the bill is a request for payment.
