Meeting community health needs, together
At Nebraska Medicine and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, better health starts with listening to our patients, partners and community. Every three years, we work with local health systems and county health departments to complete a comprehensive Community Health Needs Assessment.
This ongoing process helps us identify the key barriers to health, particularly in accessing care, and guides our priorities. We create and implement a board-approved Community Health Improvement Plan that outlines real, actionable steps to meet those needs. We also report our progress to the IRS annually as part of our commitment as a nonprofit health system.
Our most recent assessment, completed in 2025, is shaping our 2025 to 2028 community strategy, which is focused on closing care gaps and improving the health of every Nebraskan we serve.
