Medicare Advantage HMO plans now require a referral from a patient’s primary care provider (PCP) for specialty services.

Our goal is to work closely with you to make this process as smooth as possible and help ensure your patient’s care is covered by their insurance, to prevent delays in care.

To help ensure coverage, please submit a referral prior to the patient’s appointment using one of the following methods:

We will do our best to monitor patients who may be missing a referral. If Nebraska Medicine finds a shared patient who requires a referral from their PCP, we will reach out to you to request one.
