Starting May 1, 2026, Nebraska Medicaid will have work requirements for some adults ages 19 to 64. If you're affected, you'll need to complete at least 80 hours in a month of approved activities.
These may include:
- Work.
- School (going to an accredited school at least half-time, based on your school's definition of half-time enrollment).
- An apprenticeship.
- Volunteer activities.
The Nebraska Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS) manages the program and decides who needs to meet the requirement.
