To Become a Volunteer You Must Successfully Complete:
- General orientation class
- A health screen that includes
- Drug Screen/Nicotine
- TB Testing
- Proof of Immunizations
- Obtain a photo identification badge
- Criminal background check
- Placement interview
- Select service area and establish volunteer schedule
- Attend training in service area
An orientation class is the first required step for all new volunteers. See a regularly updated list of orientation classes. Contact Volunteer Services at 402.559.4197 to pre-register for volunteer orientation. Pre-registration is required for orientation classes.
Approximately two weeks prior to the volunteer orientation class a packet with application paperwork will be mailed to you. Bring the completed paperwork with you to orientation. During class you will learn how to complete the next required steps of all volunteer candidates.
The volunteer application and orientation process can take four to six weeks to complete. Opportunities are available day and evenings, seven days a week A variety of service areas are currently available for both adult and teen volunteers. New Volunteer Orientation is held in the Volunteer Services office, located on the level one of Clarkson Tower. Orientation classes are offered at various times each month.
