Summary
The primary goal of the study is to gather data to plan a future study (NCI Modular R01 in Cancer Control and Population Sciences; PA-25-172). We will perform a feasibility test of a blood-based CRC screening method in a small group of rural patients (n=15) aged 45-75 years and at average risk for CRC to determine whether this approach is acceptable and can be translated into rural clinical settings. We will measure the proportion of eligible patients who consent to participate in the study (reach), the test completion rate, and the follow-up test completion rate for patients with abnormal results. Semi-structured interviews will be followed with the study participants (n=15) and selected clinic staff (n=5-6) to assess their experiences with the screening approach. Descriptive statistics will be used to summarize the key outcomes. Interview data will be analyzed deductively using a template analysis.
