Do I have to meet the Nebraska Medicaid work requirement?

Some Nebraska Medicaid members may qualify for an exemption from the work requirement. DHHS determines eligibility. 

Not everyone has to meet the work requirement. 

You may qualify for an exemption if you: 

  • Are pregnant or have had a baby within the past 12 months.
  • Have a disability.
  • Are medically fragile.
  • Care for a child under age 13.
  • Care for someone with a disability.
  • Are a member of a recognized Native American tribe.
  • Are in a drug or alcohol treatment program.
  • Have been incarcerated within the last 90 days.
  • Have aged out of foster care and are under age 26. 

Other exemptions may apply. DHHS determines eligibility.
