Interests
As an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine and the care of all athletic injuries, Dr. Scott Reynolds focuses on shoulder, knee, and elbow injuries. He is board-certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and has special certification in cartilage transplantation. After growing up in central Nebraska and attending Hastings College, he graduated medical school, #1 in his class, from the University of Nebraska Medical Center. Dr. Reynolds completed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Wisconsin, where he was selected as Chief Resident and Resident of the Year. He then completed his fellowship training at one of the most sought out and world renowned sports medicine programs, the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, AL with Dr. James Andrews. While in Birmingham, he received training in advanced arthroscopic surgery of the shoulder, knee, and elbow and assisted with the care of University of Alabama, Auburn University, and Jackson State University athletes, as well as numerous NFL and MLB players. He has extensive experience working with professional, collegiate, high school, and recreational athletes.
Dr. Reynolds, a former collegiate athlete, currently serves as an orthopaedic consultant and team physician for the Omaha Storm Chasers (AAA affiliate of the Kansas City Royals).
He is active in several professional associations including the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the American Sports Medicine Fellowship Society. He is also a voluntary orthopedic clinical instructor for Clarkson Family Medicine residency and the University of Nebraska Medical Center physician assistant program. Dr. Reynolds is currently the medical director of sports medicine for Jennie Edmundson Hospital and a member of the Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital Sports Medicine Team.
In addition to his work at NebOrtho, Dr. Reynolds is a co-founder of dr7 Innovations, a medical product discovery and development company. He has published research as well as several book chapters and has given numerous presentations at a variety of professional meetings. Dr. Reynolds has also earned numerous awards and honors throughout his education, training, and career. Away from work he enjoys spending time with his wife and three boys.
