Support for you and your family at every stage

We understand that caring for your family involves different needs at various stages of life. From welcoming a new child to finding reliable child care, our benefits are designed to provide you with the support you need whenever you need it. Explore the sections below to learn more about the resources available to you.

Adoption benefits

We’re committed to supporting colleagues who choose to expand their families through adoption. Full-time and part-time colleagues in good standing are eligible for up to $5,000 in reimbursement for adoption-related expenses. This lifetime maximum is prorated based on FTE.

Eligible expenses include agency fees, attorney fees, home study fees or expenses related to a service or a supply. Travel expenses are not eligible for reimbursement.

To request reimbursement, complete the Adoption Expense Reimbursement Request Form and email it to MyHR@nebraskamed.com.

Infertility treatment support

We understand the importance of family, so Nebraska Medicine provides up to $15,000 in coverage for infertility treatment. This benefit is available if you are enrolled in one of our medical plans. For more information, reach out to UMR or refer to the medical plan's summary plan description.

Maternity Management Program

Expecting a child? The Maternity Management Program offers personalized support throughout your pregnancy, available to employees enrolled in a Nebraska Medicine medical plan. This program, administered by UMR, ensures you receive the care and guidance needed for a healthy pregnancy.

Mother's rooms

Nebraska Medicine supports our breastfeeding colleagues with comfortable, designated mother’s rooms across our campuses. These rooms provide a private space for pumping during work hours. Breast pump parts are available for purchase from Lactation Services for patients and staff.

Paid parental time

New parents may be eligible for up to three weeks (21 days) of paid parental time. This benefit, available to colleagues with .5 FTE or greater who qualify under FMLA, provides paid time off to bond with your new child.

Upwards Child Care Assistance

Finding reliable child care can be challenging. Through Upwards Child Care Assistance, Nebraska Medicine provides access to a network of over 126,000 vetted child care providers. Whether you need full-time care, a date night babysitter, or last-minute support, Upwards has you covered. You’ll also be paired with a care manager to guide you through the process and ensure you find the right fit.

Full-time colleagues now have access to two care credits to use during work hours at no cost to you. Each credit is worth one day of child care (on average).

Dependent Care FSA with employer match

Managing child care or elder care expenses can be costly. Nebraska Medicine offers a Dependent Care FSA with a 10% employer match (up to $500) to help alleviate some of these costs. You can use this benefit to cover eligible expenses like child care or elder care services.

Legal plan coverage

Navigating complex family planning and caregiving can feel overwhelming. Our legal plans offered through MetLife provide support every step of the way. Whether you’re considering surrogacy, adoption, or facing caregiving challenges, our legal plan options provide access to experienced attorneys who can help guide you through these processes with confidence.

Surrogacy and reproductive matters involve complex legal requirements. Through a MetLife Legal Plan, you can access up to 20 hours of legal services related to reproductive assistance matters such as surrogacy, egg, sperm or embryo adoption.
