The Nebraska Medical Center is committed to a safe and secure delivery of your baby — one of the most cherished moments of your life. We're honored to have a part in it and provide a secure and comfortable environment for the labor, delivery and recovery of every birth.
Peace of mind comes from delivering a baby at The Nebraska Medical Center. Neonatologists, neonatal nurses, pharmacists, respiratory therapists and other healthcare providers with specialized training are present to attend to any infant needs at the time of delivery.
For any unexpected health needs, the medical center has a Level 3 Newborn Intensive Care Unit. The high-tech newborn security system and locked controlled units ensures the safety of the experience for both the baby and their family.
Modern and beautiful labor suites offering space and privacy for families and jacuzzi tubs are available in most rooms. Bonding with your baby is important and the medical center offers rooming in with baby. Lactation consultants are available for mothers who wish to learn to nurse.
If the new mom needs some well-deserved sleep or time to shower, compassionate and skilled nurses watch over newborns in the 24 hour nursery. Free Wi-Fi Internet access, open visitation for family members and 24 hour room services is available to women who have their baby at the medical center.
It is recommended to bring the following items with you for your stay:
- Change of clothes to wear home for mom and baby
- Comfortable and supportive bra
- Baby blanket
- Car seat
- Camera and batteries
- Blankets for your family
- Favorite pillows
- Cell phone and charger
- Movies/CDs and MP3 players
- Robe and slippers
- Toothbrush, combs, brushes, shampoo, conditioner, face wash and lotion
- Personal items which would increase the comfort of your stay
Before taking the baby home, a postpartum nurse will insure the mother and family have received sufficient instruction on caring for the baby and the mother so everyone will feel confident.
