Surgical Treatments

If medications do not provide adequate pain relief, or if they cause bothersome side effects, surgery may be appropriate. Surgical procedures include “percutaneous” techniques, open surgery (microvascular decompression or rhizotomy), and a special form of radiation treatment (stereotactic radiosurgery).
