Amy and Grant NICU Patient and Family

It was Amy’s second pregnancy and it appeared to be normal until she went into labor nine weeks before her due date. Grant was in the Newborn Intensive Care Unit for four weeks.

Amy and her husband Kelly live in Omaha, Nebraska, with their two sons, Jack and Grant.

Amy says, “I was having a normal pregnancy until I went into preterm labor in the 31st week. When Grant was born, his lungs were very immature. They thought he would need to stay in the NICU for eight weeks. But because of the respiratory therapy, the nutrition and the excellent care he received from the very beginning, we took a healthy baby boy home just four weeks later. We feel so fortunate to have him. I can’t thank the doctors and nurses enough. They took care of Grant like he was their own. "
