Nebraska Medicine Collaborates with Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals

Nebraska Medicine is proud to be partnering with Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals located in west Omaha at 175th Plaza and Burke Street.

This 110-bed, state-of-the-art rehabilitation hospital will specialize in spinal cord injury, traumatic brain injury, stroke, pulmonary, neurological and other serious conditions. Nebraska Medicine and its academic partner the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) are excited to be collaborating with Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals to help provide acute rehabilitation services to Omaha-area residents.

Nebraska Medicine’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) Department will see patients at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals, as well as outpatient clinic locations throughout Omaha, including at the Nebraska Medical Center campus. These clinics will offer comprehensive evaluation of spine problems, including surgical consultation when needed, as well as evaluation and treatment of all types of musculoskeletal problems, including painful conditions of the shoulder, hip, knee and extremities.

With the assistance of the Madonna Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering, UNMC will provide clinical research opportunities for students and residents at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospital. The department is also in the process of building an accredited residency program in PM&R, the first such residency in the upper Midwest region.

“We are honored to partnering with such a highly regarded rehabilitation facility as Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals,” says Samuel Bierner, MD, medical director of UNMC’s Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation residency program. “Through the efforts of everyone working there, we will raise the bar for high-quality inpatient rehabilitation care in Omaha and improve the lives of Nebraskans with disabling conditions.”
