Burn Unit
The mission of The Nebraska Medical Center Burn Unit is to provide state of the art comprehensive burn care to both inpatient and outpatient from the time of injury through recovery and rehabilitation. The Burn Unit also provides burn education and burn prevention programs to professional groups and community organizations.
The Burn Unit is a seven bed unit with ICU capabilities. There is an adjacent outpatient treatment clinic for minor burn care and long term follow-up care.
Experience a tremendous variety in patient care, including pediatrics, and all acuity levels, including intensive care. The burn nurses are highly-trained and receive up to six months of orientation. During the first year, the new nurse is scheduled to take Basic Life Support (BLS), Pediatric Advanced life Support (PALS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advanced Burn Life Support (ABLS) and complete a trauma course.
