The Bariatrics Center at Nebraska Medicine is the most comprehensive weight management program in the region, offering both surgical and medical weight loss treatment options for obesity. We feel this is important, because not everyone’s genetic makeup allows them to lose weight in the same way. Your weight loss journey may require one - or a combination of treatment options - to successfully reach your weight loss goals and keep the weight off. Our team understands and is dedicated to helping you achieve your goals.
Our program was designed and directed by physicians who are specialty trained in medical weight management and bariatric surgery. Our providers are supported by a multidisciplinary team of specialists including physician’s assistants and nurse coordinators trained in bariatric medicine.
Because we know that a successful transition to lifelong healthy living requires more than just losing the weight, our team also includes medical nutritionists, an exercise specialist and a clinical psychologist – we are here to support your medical, physical and mental health throughout this process.
We offer classes and consultations on a variety of topics including healthy eating, portion identification, healthy coping, physical activity planning and the psychology of eating and weight loss, amongst others. Our clinic also features size-appropriate accommodations, with a private entrance and convenient parking to ensure a comfortable patient experience.
About Our Physicians
- Dr. Corrigan McBride
Corrigan McBride, MD, is a bariatric surgeon and medical director of the Bariatrics Center at Nebraska Medicine. She is fellowship trained in both surgical critical care and advanced laparoscopic surgery, and a well-known bariatric surgeon, both locally and regionally.
What makes Dr. McBride unique is that her story is not too different from many of the patients she treats. Several years ago, after a difficult struggle with her weight, she had bariatric surgery – twice. We invite you to read more about her personal experience by visiting our blog page.
In addition, as an accredited site reviewer for the Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery Accreditation and Quality Improvement Program (MBSAQIP), Dr. McBride literally sees the best and the worst of other bariatric programs around the nation. This allows her to bring home the concepts that are proven to work and implement them into our program – as well as avoiding what doesn’t work – continually improving an already successful program to bring our patients the absolute best in diagnosis and treatment.
