Newborn Outreach Program
STABLE Transport Education Program
This program is designed for the period following successful resuscitation of the newborn until care is transferred to the transport team. The program involves a 7 hour interactive didactic presentation by experts in neonatal nursing and medicine.
The program is designed for any health caregiver involved with pre-transport stabilization of the neonate, including: RN's in newborn nursery, L/D, postpartum; RN's, PA's and Nurse Practitioners working in emergency rooms who are involved in the treatment of sick neonates; LPN's and nurse's aides working in the nursery and post-partum; respiratory therapists, pediatricians, ER and Family Practice physicians, and any community hospital physician involved in the stabilization of the neonate prior to transport.
Research has shown that incorporating a mnemonic device into the learning process may help organize , recall and remember learned material.
S.T.A.B.L.E. stands for Sugar, Temperature, Artificial breathing, Blood pressure , Lab work, and Emotional support. This will ensure full support of the infant as well as their family prior to transport.
