The Social Workers are a key part of the transplant team. They address
the impact of transplant on aspects of the patient/family lifestyle (such
as adjustment to illness/hospitalization, and impact on the family/caregiver,
employment, financial issues, etc.) Social Workers may help through:
- Social Work Evaluation of strengths and needs for patient and
family prior to, during and after transplant
- Supportive Counseling for patient and family, caregiver, children
- Housing: if your patient has special housing needs or major financial
issues with housing and meals.
