Dr. Ruben Quiros joined the transplant team as Medical Director of Pediatric Liver and Intestinal Transplantation and Chief of Pediatric Gastroenterology, Hepatology and Nutrition in 2009. He received his medical degree from Universidad Nacional de Panama School of Medicine, Panama City, Panama and completed fellowships at the UCLA School of Medicine in both Clinical and Advanced Clinical Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.
Prior to joining the University of Nebraska Medical Center, he served as Medical Director of Pediatric Liver and Intestinal Transplantation, Director of Pediatric Hepatology and Co-Director of Intestinal Rehabilitation and Transplant Center at Children's Memorial Hermann Hospital/University of Texas, Houston, TX.
Dr. Quiros specializes in the care of patients with liver disease, obesity-related liver disease, short bowel syndrome, Total Parental Nutrition and those in need of liver and intestinal transplantation. He is board certified in Pediatrics, Pediatric Gastroenterology and Transplant Hepatology.

- Treatment Of Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease With Vitamin E Supplementation In Children. The main purpose of this study is to test the efficacy of vitamin E (a-tocopherol) supplementation on nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD).
