Intestine Team

Dr. Mercer is a transplant surgeon with an active interest in basic science. His clinical interests center around all elements of solid organ transplantation, with additional focus on intestinal rehabilitation and management of patients with complex intestinal problems such as fistulas and extreme short bowel. His basic science work focuses on Hepatitis C, and is beginning a program studying elements of the function of very short intestine. Originally from Canada, Dr. Mercer has now settled permanently in Omaha with his wife and three children.
