Intestinal Rehab

Research

The Intestinal Rehabilitation Program at the University of Nebraska Medical Center focuses on conducting and reviewing research to assure that our patients have access to the most effective medical, surgical and diagnostic treatments.

Continuation of expertise in the field requires continued surveillance of new treatments and methods of improving care to patients.

Some of the following topics are areas of interest for current and future research by our team.

  • Use of growth factors to enhance bowel adaptation and TPN weaning
  • Risk factors, prevalence, treatment and diagnosis of small intestine bacterial overgrowth in short bowel syndrome
  • Risk factors, prevalence, diagnosis and treatment of osteoporosis in patients with short bowel syndrome
  • Utility of surgical options to enhance bowel rehabilitation in short bowel syndrome

We have an excellent reputation in the research field due to our commitment to:

  • Protect patients involved in our studies
  • meticulous collection and maintenance of data
  • following and monitoring patients appropriately
  • providing timely and accurate summary of data findings

We do support clinical trials.
