Intestinal Rehab

Overview

The multi-disciplinary Intestinal Rehabilitation Program (IRP) team at the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC) provides comprehensive, individualized care utilizing state-of-the-art dietary, medical and, occasionally, surgical methods to achieve this goal.

We see patients who struggle to maintain weight, hydration and nutritional status without relying on intravenous support, patients who require specialized tube feedings for fluid or nutrients, patients who need to reduce diarrhea and control volume of stool output, and patients with intestinal failure.

The IRP at UNMC utilizes the Lied Transplant Center, a state-of-the-art facility offering the unique opportunity for patients to become part of their own treatment and recovery. The home-like environment of the Lied Transplant Center connects to the campus for access to other hospital services. The Lied Transplant Center contains guest rooms, patient suites, patient care center, private dining, resource center, children's play area, outpatient clinic and an exercise facility. Our inpatient and outpatient programs utilize the Lied Transplant Center.
