Survivor Program
This clinic designed especially for cancer survivors who have completed their chemotherapy and/or radiation treatment. Cancer survivors can be self referred or referred by their oncologist/specialist, and are scheduled for a half day appointment which includes assessments by a physical therapist, nutritionist, social worker, nurse, case manager and Dr. Deborah Darrington, an internal medicine physician. At the end of the assessment by this multidisciplinary care team, a comprehensive individualized plan of care is developed to address the on-going health care needs related to survivorship, and is given to the patient and their primary care physician for implementation. The aim of this report is to provide a healthy lifestyle that will enhance chances of remaining cancer free. This clinic will be conducted the first and third
Monday of the month.
Internal Medicine Clinic for Cancer Survivors
This clinic is for survivors of all types of cancer, and will be held on the second and fourth Monday of the month and every Wednesday and Friday. Deborah Darrington, MD and Susan Daubman, RN, BSN, OCN will provide general internal medicine care for cancer survivors and others with primary care needs such as:
- Physical exams
- Well woman exams
- Adult Immunizations
- Management of:
- High blood pressure
- Diabetes
- High cholesterol
- Acute illnesses such as colds and infections
Deborah Darrington, MD is with the University of Nebraska Medical Center's Department of Internal Medicine, section of Oncology and Hematology. She was previously in private practice as an internal medicine physician for five years. Prior to her medical school training, Dr. Darrington was a physician assistant for eight years in the area of cancer care, and did research on secondary malignancies in lymphoma patients after bone marrow transplant.
Susan Daubman, RN, BSN, Oncology Certified Nurse has over 25 years of experience in cancer care, and is an expert in helping cancer patients navigate the complexities of their treatment.
Both clinics are conveniently located at the new Cancer Center in West Omaha near Village Pointe.
