Grief Recovery Group

  • For anyone who has experienced a significant loss and 2-3 months have elapsed since the death.
  • Meets the first Wednesday of every month. Clarkson Tower - Storz 6 (ground level) 5:30 - 6:30 p.m.
  • No fee

Cancer Survivorship Group

  • An educational/support group concerned with survivorship issues for people with a cancer history, their family, friends, or health care professionals. Education presented by health care/community speakers.
  • Meets on the 1st Tuesday of each month, 7:00 - 8:30 p.m., in Private Dining Room, 3rd Floor of University Hospital, next to the cafeteria. Contact Social Work Department at (402) 559-4420.

Support for People with Oral and Head and Neck Cancers (SPOHNC)

  • Omaha Chapter of national self-help support group for patients with oral and head and neck cancers.
  • Spouses, family, & friends also welcome.
  • Held 3rd Tuesday of each month, noon - 1:00 p.m. (except December), Contact Social Work Department at (402) 559-4420.

Prostate Cancer Support Group (Shenandoah, Iowa)

  • Support Group for individuals with prostate cancer and their spouses.
  • Held 3rd Monday of each month at Shenandoah Memorial Hospital, Shenandoah, Iowa. Contact Ed Anderson at (712) 246-1402 or Cathy Ballain at (712) 246-5210 for more information.

Look Good, Feel Better

  • Provides assistance for make-up and wigs/scarves.
  • Held the 1st Monday of alternating months at 6:00 p.m. Pre-registration is needed and can be done by contacting the Volunteer Department at (402) 559-4197.

Opportunities for People Experiencing Blood & Marrow Stem Cell Transplants (BMSCT)

  • Introduction to BMSCT - Provides information on the transplant process for patients and their support system. Contact Jeanine at (402) 559-7240 or Diane at (402) 559-6406.
  • Catheter and General Care Classes are taught by Sue Wardian, RN, MSN. Call (402) 559-8019 to register.
  • BMSCT Coffee Hour is for BMSCT or high dose treatment patients, as well as caregivers/families/friends. It is held every Friday 8:30 - 9:30 a.m. in the Lied Transplant Patient Education Center, Level 3 - Room # 3410 (across from Treatment Lounge).
