The Nebraska Medical Center’s nephrology program was recently ranked as a high performing program by U.S. News and World Report for treating chronic and kidney disease, renal failure, kidney stones, electrolyte disturbances such as hypertension as well as hematuria and proteinuria.

The most common kidney diseases include:

At the medical center a multidisciplinary team of physicians work together with nephrologists to determine the best course of treatment for each patient. Not all patients with kidney disease will need transplant. Medication, inpatient dialysis and referral to outpatient dialysis facilities is available. For some patients, kidney transplant is an treatment option. The Nebraska Medical Center is home to a world-renowned kidney transplant program where several kidney transplantation options exist.
