Wish List Brings Comforts of Home to Patients and Families
Everyday at Nebraska Medicine, seriously ill patients and their families must call the hospital home for an extended period of time. Thanks to the generosity and support of local companies like the Metro Credit Union Services and Ameritex Services, we are able to provide these patients and families with some extra amenities to help make their stay at the hospital more comfortable and enjoyable.
Ameritex and the Metro Credit Union have donated items from the hospital’s wish list, which includes gift packages created by our social workers and caregivers that help bring some of the comforts of home to our patients and their families. The packages include items like meals, baby and children’s toys, well baby care supplies, clothing and personal hygiene and entertainment items like a portable DVD player, movies, books and board games.
Ameritex Services recently donated the Super Fit and Fun package, which includes the Nintendo Wii, Wii Fit, yoga balls and light hand weights that can be used for our patients for rehabilitation purposes. “It is rewarding to see the results of our contribution in person,” says Mark Goldstrom, CEO, Ameritex Services.
The Metro Credit Union donated one each of the nine Wish List packages. “This has been a tough year for donations across the community,” says Randall Hallett, executive director of Development at Nebraska Medicine. “These packages offer a wonderful opportunity for individuals or businesses to donate something small, but that will have a big impact for our patients.”
