Tyson Smith, Transplant Recipient
Tyson Smith lost his ability to eat and digest food due to complications from H1N1 flu. After years of not being able to eat or digest food, Tyson was listed for transplant. In August 2013, he received a life-saving intestine, liver and pancreas transplant. A month later, on his 17th birthday, he was able to enjoy a piece of birthday cake for the first time in years. With his feeding tubes gone, and his new organs working well, Tyson says he now feels like the sky is the limit for his future.
