Bone Marrow Donor Drive
As an international leader in the treatment of blood disorders, The Nebraska Medical Center partnered with the National Bone Marrow Donor Association to recruit more people to become part of the national donor registry. Being part of the registry means a person may have the ability to help someone whose last hope of beating a disease such as leukemia is a bone marrow transplant. Getting on the registry is quick, painless and non invasive. All it takes is a swab on the inside of the mouth. From there, the sample goes to a lab and then into a national data base.
There is a particular need for ethnic minorities to become donors. For more information on becoming part of the national bone marrow donor registry, visit http://www.bethematch.org.
