Prostate Cancer

The fear of having prostate cancer can be devastating to men. However, it is most successfully treated when found early. In the past 20 years, the five-year survival rate for all stages combined has increased from 67 percent to 97 percent. Recently, The Nebraska Medical Center was one of seven leading cancer centers to participate in key Prostate cancer clinical studies leading to FDA approval for the Calypso® 4D Localization System. This study led to the approval of a new kind of radiation therapy to target cancer using Global Positioning System, or GPS which is now the standard of care in treating Prostate cancer.
